We spent the day with Katie and Kevin and had a great time.  We brought some dinner and enjoyed hanging out, playing with Adell and napping on the couch!

Dallin made himself a sandwich buddy.
Maura said; "Mom, I can be the big babysitter!".
Posing for pictures...Kevin

Seriously?

We had a great time!

Damien Todd (aka Billy Bob Todd)

Born April 26, 2012 (Three weeks early!!)
7lbs 5oz. 201/2 inches long
Born to Kevin and Katie Todd

He was born at their home in Coolidge, Az.  All went well except for the fact that their midwife didn't make it on time!  Kevin helped deliver Damien and all was well!  He's a cute little one, and a 'Todd' all the way!

Jen, this picture is for you! (I know you love baby feet!)
Rest assured, we played with his feet and his hands and his ears and his cute little dimpled chin!

Damien is obviously from the Todd side of the family and Adell is 100% a Jones!
Katie, my sister and a great mom!

Mookster's musings....

The Mookster was under the weather yesterday and as we were snuggling and watching a movie (I LOVE doing that...) she looked up at me and asked; "Mom, where is my uvula?".  I laughed and said, "It's in your mouth, you know, that thing that hangs down in the back.".  "Oh!", was her reply, "Does it wiggle when I shake my head?".  She then opened her mouth, shook her head, and had me look to see if it moved.  "Nope", I said.  "What about yours?", she asked.  So I opened my mouth so she could see my uvula and shook my head.  "Nope, not yours either." she answered, and then went back to watching the movie.

Love those little times with The Mookster!

I think she got the word from the CD we have called "Snacktime" by the Barenaked Ladies.  I also think they talk about the uvula on the movie "Monster House", just in case you were wondering where she got that word...

Dallin's thoughts...

A couple days ago out of the blue (I love it when my kids spout random things) Dallin says, "Mom, I think my nose is double jointed!"  He then proceeds to show me that he can move his nose so it bends a little in the middle.  He was pretty excited about being able to do that.

What a talented kid!  It's his superpower!

Went to Katie's baby shower yesterday!  In about 4 weeks she's going to be a mother to...

a boy!
Hard to believe my little sister is having her second baby!

The first one is awful cute!
It was fun to sit and chat with Katie's friends and neighbors.  We had some good treats, played fun games, and teased Katie a lot!
I love that I live close (well, closer than the others) to this sister!  She's such a great mother and friend!

She and Kevin haven't decided on a name yet, but they like boy names that start with "D"...So I did some searching and this is what I came up with:

Dalton
Damen
Damien
Daniel (Dan, Danny)
Darcy
Declan (love this one)
Demetrius (Cool!)
Denley
Derrick
Devdan
Dimitri (I dated a Dimitri in college, so I'm partial to this one...)
Dirk
Drew
Drake
Duncan
Dustin

I'm sure they are just hanging on the I names I like (Huge eye-roll)!
Can't wait to meet what's-his-name!

Happy Easter!
Dallin, Maura & Bekki

Tradition!
Our neighborhood Easter breakfast and egg hunt is one of my favorites!  The Saturday before Easter we always have a breakfast in the park with pancakes, eggs, juice and friends!  The entire neighborhood is invited and it is ALWAYS a hit!
Morgan and Maura found a spot on the ground to eat.

**Note** (Insert embarrassed mother explanation complete with eye-roll...) Maura has drawers full of clothing. A closet full of cute, matching, new, beautiful clothes, and this is what she chooses to wear!  I even tried to bribe her into wearing something Easter-y.  She put on what I wanted, got her bribe, then promptly went into her room and changed into what SHE wanted to wear. Her argument: "Mom, it has pink on the ears and orange for the nose...it's an Easter shirt!". How could I argue with that?

Dallin is the same way.  He doesn't care if there are holes in the knees, or if the shirt is stained, on backwards, inside out, or if it doesn't match.  He will FIGHT me to wear what he thinks is comfortable no matter how unkempt he looks! My biggest complaint is that they wear the same things over and over again!
Most of the time it's not a battle important enough for me to fight.  So, my children constantly look like they are homeless.

In case you were worried about the Russell's and their obvious inability to afford clothing for the children...worry no more! My children have PLENTY of clothing, just not a lot of fashion sense!

The Easter Basket pose.  (another eye-roll from me)
 "Searching" for eggs...har har
Ella and Maura.  They have become good buddies lately!
And the hunt is on!  Like a plague of locusts, nothing is left behind.
It was a success!
How many sit-ups can you do?

During a recent den meeting for Dallin's scout troup this was the question that was asked.  They were working on earning a physical fitness badge.  They did all the activities one week then 30 days later had to see if they had improved in their fitness.  Some of the things they had to do were: Standing long jump, 500 yard walk/run, sit-ups, push-ups, and pull ups.
Dallin wanted to see how many sit-ups he could do.  He didn't want to just beat his former score, he wanted to see how many he could do!
The boys kept calling me outside to see how many he had completed.  100....then 200...then 300....  His final total?  500 sit-ups in a row!!!

Not surprisingly his stomach muscles were sore for a couple of days!

WOW! Way to go Dallin!

Happy whatchamacallit!

Today is Trenton's (my little brother who happens to be living with me for a while) birthday !

He didn't want it to be a big deal...so we didn't call it a BIRTHDAY, we called it a Whatchamacallit!
Ice cream instead of cake...he's a Jones.
 Super corny Trent, really.
See how old he is??  Three candles and then four candles....clever I thought.

The boys decorated his room and we made him a candy-bar card.

Hope you had a Happy Whatchamacallit, Trenton!!
Biggest Water Balloon Ever!!

Yes, it DID make it outside, and yes there were SEVERAL more after this one.  It was a terrific thing to do on a day off of school!

(Dallin was the photographer!  He did a great job, don't you think?)
Glow in the dark jars...

So, I got this really great idea (Pinterest of course) and we had a FHE night with crafts!

We made our own night-lights.   Glow in the dark ones!  How cool is that??

Jar, glow in the dark paints, and voila! Night light!

It's important to paint inside the jar so you can still carry it around without all the mess.  Worked great!

This was the jar before the glowing.  We chose different colors of glow in the dark paint.

 All three masterpieces.
This is what they looked like when they were glowing...

No, it's not MY picture, mine didn't turn out so well. This is one I unabashadly stole!

Cool, Huh!?
