Mesa Art Center

A couple of weeks ago I went with Dallin on a field trip to kick off their art unit they will be doing this year.

First, we walked downtown Mesa and looked at all the sculptures.

Most of the sculptures had pink tu-tu's on them to advertise the Mesa Art Center's upcoming event "Tu-Tu Tuesday".  The event spotlighted a local photographer who took pictures of himself in a pink tu-tu to raise money for breast cancer.  The artist is Bob Carey.  Check out his project HERE.

After we visited the sculptures, we went the the Mesa Art Center for a tour.

 There was a display of glass sculpture as well as the Tu-Tu project!

 Then, out to the grass for some lunch and a little break.

 Finally, we got to do our own art project with glass tiles.  Each student created their own mosaic to keep for the "Art Walk" at the end of the year.

It was a SUPER field trip!
